Eastcoast Music Mall Staff Product Review
This is one amazing microphone! It has superb detail in the lows, with very accurate mids and highs. The response is velvet-smooth even on an extremely complex and dynamic sound source like an acoustic piano. It also works outstandingly well on acoustic guitars and vocals. The resulting tracks have terrific presence and depth. Don't even bother listening to this mic unless you're ready to buy it! I can't think of a studio that wouldn't find many uses for this gem of a mic.
For recording an acoustic guitar, try using two condenser mics, say the Gemini with another condenser mic like the SE 2200A, for example. Try one on the body/neck joint, and one off the lower bout of the body, looking back towards the bridge. Move each one around while monitoring to find the sweetest spot, but stay away from the soundhole, as it is always too boomy. Record one stereo track off each mic. The results should sound better than that actual guitar did in the room! To fatten up the sound even more, try - either before or after mixing down to one stereo track - slipping the right signal of each stereo track about a millisecond in time either ahead or behind the left track. If you find the right amount of slip, the sound will seem to jump out of the speakers and become much richer in harmonic content.

The new SE Electronics Gemini Dual Tube condenser microphone breaks the mold! Like no other microphone ever made, the Gemini Dual Tube is exactly that: Two vacuum tubes in a large diaphragm transformerless condenser microphone. SE's engineers have created a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Pre-tested 12AU7 and 12AX7 dual triodes deliver smooth, natural, full-range sound with super low noise, and unheard of sensitivity and reach. It's internal shock mount and cardioid pickup pattern make it perfect for distant or ambient use, stereo X-Y recording, and where rear axis rejection is necessary.
SE's proprietary Dual Tube design (a world first!) and Super-large 35mm gold diaphragm work combine to make a creative tool that must be experienced to believe. For concert hall, studio, or on location, the Gemini Dual Tube does break the mold. And you'll be pleasantly surprised that it won't break the bank.
The SE Gemini comes with shock-mount and power supply in a sturdy flight-case. For added protection, the mic is packaged in a nice little wooden box that fits in the flight case along with the shock mount and power supply.
